Language, networks and persistence were key themes when professionals and international newcomers shared experiences from working life in Haugalandet during Mingel x Mangfoldsfest on Wednesday June 10.
This weekend, Haugaland Vekst participated in Emigration Expo in Utrecht – Europe’s largest fair for working and living abroad. This year’s participation confirms the strong interest in south-west Norway, and that Haugalandet has much to offer those seeking a new life in Norway.
On Thursday, March 5, Tysvær municipality hosted their very first Mingel – at the new Frakkagjerd Secondary School. The evening brought together both new and familiar faces for pizza, presentations and playful competitions in the school’s impressive facilities.
On Wednesday 10 December, Sparebankstiftelsen SR-Bank awarded a NOK 1,400,000 grant to Haugaland Vekst – a significant boost for Welcome Hub Haugalandet and the work to strengthen inclusion and belonging in the region.
This week, representatives from business, academia and the public sector gathered in Oslo to discuss how Norway can strengthen its position in the global competition for talent. The discussions took place first at the conference “Taper vi kampen om de beste hodene?“ (“Are we losing the race for the best minds?”), hosted by NHO, Abelia and the Oslo Region, and continued at the meeting of the national Talent Attraction and Retention Network of Norway.
Representatives from across Europe met in Bologna on 28-30 October to share experiences on how regions can attract, include and retain international talent. The gathering in Italy provides new inspiration for efforts to strengthen Haugalandet as an attractive region to live and work in – and a place where people want to stay.
On Thursday 21 August, Haugaland Vekst and Haugesund Municipality hosted a Welcome Mingel – a social afternoon with a city walk, raffles and new acquaintances. More than 80 people signed up, including fresh students, graduates, newcomers and permanent residents.
